Everything you need to install your Yoga Wall — step by step.
The YOGA WALL® is designed around our patented ball-and-socket hardware system. You mount the spring-loaded socket wall plates into ¾″ hardwood veneer plywood. The wall belts and bars snap into the wall plates with a brass ball — giving you tremendous flexibility of use.
The Basic Setup uses 3 rows of wall plates. The Deluxe Setup uses 5 rows. Plates are mounted to the plywood in columns 16″ apart. The plywood is then attached to the wall by bolting 2″×4″s horizontally into existing wall studs, then screwing the plywood into the 2×4s.
We have a router template available to prepare the plywood for the wall plates — contact us for rental details.
3 rows of wall plates — ideal for home practitioners or smaller spaces. Covers the core range of yoga wall exercises and belt positions.
5 rows of wall plates — the preferred choice for studios and serious practitioners. Offers the full range of inversions, traction work, and therapeutic applications.
You supply the tools; we supply the hardware system. Purchase your ¾″ hardwood veneer plywood at your local lumber yard.
Wall plates must be spaced exactly 16″ apart vertically. Use this table as a guide for row heights when planning your Yoga Wall layout.
| Row | Basic Setup (3-row) | Deluxe Setup (5-row) | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Row 1 (lowest) | ~12–14″ from floor | ~12–14″ from floor | Leg & hip work, grounding poses |
| Row 2 | ~40–44″ from floor | ~28–32″ from floor | Standing poses, mid-body support |
| Row 3 | ~68–72″ from floor | ~44–48″ from floor | Upper body, shoulder work |
| Row 4 | — | ~60–64″ from floor | Chest openers, backbends |
| Row 5 (highest) | — | ~76–80″ from floor | Inversions, full traction |
Tip: Mark each row position on the plywood before routing to verify spacing with a tape measure.
Buy ¾″ hardwood veneer plywood at your local lumber yard. Cut to your wall dimensions before routing. Basic = fewer sheets; Deluxe = more.
Use the router template with your router and ¾″ double-flute cutting bit to cut holes for the wall plates — spaced exactly 16″ apart. Use the 1⅜″ butterfly bit for secondary holes.
Locate wall studs. Bolt 2″×4″ boards into studs at each row height. Use a level to ensure everything is plumb before proceeding.
Screw prepped plywood onto the 2×4 backing. Pre-drill holes to prevent splitting. Verify flush and level before fully tightening fasteners.
Insert spring-loaded socket wall plates into the routed holes. Secure with an allen wrench and socket wrench per the hardware instructions. Use C-clamps to hold plates in position as needed.
Snap wall belts, wall bars, and accessories into the ball-and-socket fittings. Test each connection for a firm snap-in. Your Yoga Wall is ready!
